Alexander Wang brand animal welfare practice
This policy is a statement of our commitment to ethical sourcing and animal welfare.
1. Permitted Animal Hides:
alexanderwang only uses animal hides that are a byproduct of the meat-packing industry and not farmed exclusively for its hides. This includes:
• Cow (leather + hair-on hides)
• Sheep (leather + hair-on hides)
• Pig
• Goat
• Deer
• Water Buffalo
2.All animal hides sources are sourced from Leather Working Group-Certified tanneries.
3. alexanderwang will not source animal hides from the following countries:
• Bangladesh
• India
• Myanmar
• Pakistan
4. We have discontinued and prohibit the use of the following materials listed below:
• real fur - including (but not limited to) mink, fox, lynx, chinchilla, rabbit, coyote, astrakhan/karakul lamb, kangaroo, and raccoon dog
• angora
• materials from fetal, aborted or newly born animals
• endangered species, based on listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) (see www.cites.org for a list of species) or the IUCN red list as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable (www.redlist.org)
alexanderwang will continue to sell products that may be made from synthetic materials such as faux fur and traditional animal fabrics that are ethically sourced like cashmere, mohair, leather, down, wool, and silk.
